The next stage for Actionable Truth Media begins

"Papers please" to access the Internet is a NON-STARTER as far as I'm concerned!

The next stage for Actionable Truth Media begins

One saying that has been constantly sitting at the back of my mind since the start of this decade is:

History Does Not Repeat Itself,
But It Often Rhymes

It is widely attributed to author Samuel Clemens (a.k.a. Mark Twain) but whether it was indeed him who coined it or someone else doesn't really matter as far as I'm concerned. The message and it's meaning still hold true today.

There is another saying (widely attributed to Alphonse Karr), which is very appropriate here:

The more things change, the more they are the same

Rollout of the modern version of "papers please" is currently underway across all major online platforms

Following the passing of the Online Safety Act in the UK and the commencement of enforcement of the "Age verification" mandate in Australia on December 10, the major platforms that have already been 'designated' as "covered" under the legislation have rolled out their practical preparations for complying with these legislative requirements, as well as future ones that are already in the works and will no doubt follow for other jurisdictions.

Australia adds Twitch to teen social media ban, Pinterest exempted | TechCrunch
Australia’s internet watchdog has added Twitch to the list of social media sites banned under its Social Media Minimum Age rules, effective December 10.

In the lead up to December 10 and the commencement of the under 16s social media ban in Australia, Twitch have also been formally “designated” as a “covered platform”. If you think Substack will escape “designation” then I have a beachside property on MARS to offer you for a bargain basement price that is too low to reveal publicly. Age verification on Facebook

Here is a personal account and commentary from the Australian guy behind the very handy Have I Been Pwned service which allows you to check (for free) if your email, password or other personal details have been stolen in a data breach:

Meanwhile, here is the Australian PM (and perfect Benny Hill impersonator) explaining the social media ban to a bunch of kids…who are almost certainly smarter than he is!

A cozy corner for writers is turning into a TSA line for ideas.

Substack published in late October the following statement regarding the various "age verification" legislation popping up all over the world, which was quite ambiguous:

Here’s how we’re complying with the U.K. and Australia’s new regulatory measures

Only a month and a bit later and things became crystal clear:

Hardly surprising but hopefully that will be a good wake up call for those who still need it. Substack also revealed that they have contracted a company called Persona to do the "age verification" for them and here is how it will work in practice according to Substack's own documentation:

Substack stated in their documentation that "age verification" will apply to certain types of content they deem as "18+ Content":

I don't plan to comply with ANY of this nonsense

As I have made it very clear previously, I do NOT plan to comply with ANY "age verification" requirements (on Substack or anywhere else) and also will not consider using a VPN (or any other means) to circumvent such requirements for the reasons the clip below hopefully makes clear enough:

Here is another angle to consider:

Jim Stewart is one of the most experienced digital marketing and SEO (search engine optimisation) professionals in Australia. He’s been doing this since the late 1990s, before terms like SEO (or Google for that matter) even existed. He touches on some very important points in this video in relation to the imminent social media ban in Australia from the perspective of businesses. If you read between the lines of what he is saying, there is a very important point being made here as to how this legislation can be defeated using the angle businesses big and small care very much about: $$$. If overall usage of social media and search engines that choose to comply with the legislation (e.g. Google and Bing) DROPS significantly, it means they have less eyeballs to offer advertisers and as a result, will make less money. It will also make it less worthwhile for businesses to target eyeballs through paid acquisition channels as well as organically on both social and search. This is those platforms bread and butter and where most (if not all) of their revenue comes from. For those who don't follow, here is where I am going with this: The best thing you can do to help defeat this legislation is NOT write letters to politicians, sign petitions or attend rallies. What you should do instead is: ABANDON ANY social media or search engine platform which chooses to comply. No ifs, no buts, no exceptions! Maintain said stance until the platforms or the government capitulate unconditionally due to pressure from the business sector. Using a VPN to circumvent age verification mandates is literally the OPPOSITE of the right things to do because it means you remain on the platform which has chosen to comply. If you are a content creator, STOP providing new content to said platforms and seriously consider removing any existing content until the platform stops complying. I have today disconnected my Stripe account completely from Substack and have ceased all monetisation thus denying Substack of their 10% revenue share. I will also not be publishing any more new posts on my Substack with all new content going exclusively to my own website and private community. Substack is now exactly at the same point as Facebook was prior to it going public and growing its user base rapidly is the thing that is of most importance to it. If usage instead starts dropping, @Marc Andreessen and @a16z will not be very happy and may order @Chris Best & Co. to push back on the legislation in Australia or the UK, especially if they were planning an exit through a sale or an IPO. To reiterate: I have disconnected Stripe from my Substack and all monetisation through Substack has now ceased; and I will not be publishing any more content on my Substack. If you want to stay across my content going forward, join my mailing list or the private community. Time to go back to the Internet as it was in the early 2000s instead of negotiating with tyrants…or complying with their nonsense god forbid! https://sendfox.com/actionabletruth https://community.actionabletruth.media/ https://youtu.be/_gydeWRQhVE

And here is another angle as to why VPNs are a bad idea. This may seem counterintuitive at first but give it a think and you will understand:

eKaren’s own office recommending the use of VPNs is kinda funny… To me it also means that if a VPN is your solution to maintaining access to “designated platforms” after December 10 then good luck with that… Even if it was effective (and it may still be to some extent), this is equivalent to getting a fake “proof of vaccination” and this is a ‘game’ I did not play in 2021/2 and have no intention of playing now. https://beconnected.esafety.gov.au/pluginfile.php/75892/mod_resource/content/3/index.html https://substack.com/@michaelginsburg/note/c-180510035

LOCKSTEP!

A term you should be familiar with by now

If you've never heard this term by now in late 2025, you better catch up quickly:

The TL;DR version of the "Lockstep" approach is that:

The SAME agenda is being pushed all over the world at the SAME time.

Unless you spent the last 5 years in a coma, it should be CRYSTAL CLEAR to you how this looks in practice.

This approach was clearly successful with the injectables so why not just 'rinse & repeat', right?

UK

EU

AU & UK first. EU next. Legislation has just passed but apparently “isn’t legally binding for nations”. Either way, there’s little doubt that most of the major EU member nations WILL implement it. Some states in the US (e.g. Texas) already have similar legislation in place or are finalising it. “Thank you for your attention to this matter”. https://x.com/ReginaDo/status/1993649547697086797 https://substack.com/@michaelginsburg/note/c-181574637

However, as the matter of "age verification" is a direct 'on-ramp' to DIGITAL ID, which is THE single most important agenda item for the enemy bar none (by a very wide margin), and the matter is FULLY legislated already, I very much doubt the court's ability to intervene at this stage, even if they had the will to do so (which I seriously doubt).

As usual though, the devil is in the DETAILS:

This is a very interesting development in the lead up to December 10 and appears good prima facie but I think the choke point will probably be the banks themselves. Only those that hold biometric data on their customers will be able to onboard. Users of Snapchat are now able to verify that they are over 16 without uploading a passport or driver’s licence, or needing to share biometric information like a selfie, thanks to a privacy-preserving solution enabled by ConnectID. ConnectID is expected to be live with multiple other well-known social media platforms by 10 December. The launch comes as social media platforms prepare to implement new rules restricting access for users under 16. In the lead-up to the ban, one of the biggest public concerns has been around the potential for users to be forced to share documents or biometrics with global social media platforms, just to prove their age. Australian-owned digital identity solution ConnectID allows users to verify their age without sharing any documents or selfies. Users who choose ConnectID will be securely redirected to their banking app, which already holds their verified details. The bank is then able to confirm that the user meets the age requirement and returns a simple “yes” or “no” response to the social media platform without sharing any additional information. No identity documents are uploaded or shared with social media platforms, and no personal data – not even a name or date of birth – leaves the bank, ensuring privacy and anonymity… ConnectID is already live with CommBank, NAB, ANZ Plus and Westpac, and supports a range of everyday use cases that require verified identity checks, from activating a mobile SIM, to joining a library, to applying for rental properties and confirming eligibility for age-restricted purchases. The new set-up for Actionable Truth Media

Everything you need to know if you subscribed to me on Substack

If you gave me your email address at any point by subscribing to my Substack, there is nothing you need to do.

However, if you just "follow" me on Substack, it is now time for you to make a decision:

As of now, I have 5,981 “followers” but only 3,343 subscribers. For the 2,638 people who follow but have NOT subscribed yet, what are you waiting for? As a follower, you don’t even get any content from me and whether you see my notes or not is entirely in the hands of the mystery Substack algorithm. I am done pleading: Subscribe or unfollow. If you can’t see enough value in giving me your email address at this point then I honestly prefer you don’t see any of my notes either. I want that number of 2,638 as close to ZERO as possible. https://actionabletruth.media/#/portal/signup https://substack.com/@michaelginsburg/note/c-182547153

If you are not currently a paying subscriber, maybe it is time you consider becoming one?

I am not a fan of asking people for money but if this to become my fulltime occupation and in order for me to expand this operation significantly, as I explain in the video and post above, I need to have some revenue coming in on regular basis.

Investigative reporting is a profession like any other (and arguably one of the most important ones for a "free & open society") and thus those who practice it (myself absolutely included), deserve to be financially compensated for doing such work.

Another thing which I've always strongly believed in (and has now been PROVEN to be true beyond any reasonable doubt) is that in order to "tell the TRUTH and shame the devil" and do so "without fear or favour", the media MUST be Independent. This is especially the case with the nature of investigative reporting work as all my past work has hopefully proven by now.

With this new setup, I also have higher costs as I need to pay for my own hosting and mailing list service.

I don't want to keep harping too much about it but will just say this in closing:

If you are currently paying for Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu or YouTube Premium (or Rumble Premium), ask yourself whether these subscriptions give you a good 'return' in terms of keeping you truly informed and ensuring ongoing freedom for you and your loved ones.

Hopefully I don't need to say this but in case I do:

There is NO freedom without a TRULY FREE Press...and the only way the press can be TRULY free is if it is independent.

The only way journalists and investigative reporters can remain TRULY independent is if they are supported directly by those who consume their content...and NO ONE ELSE!
